A Much Needed Update...

I've been slacking in the blog department, so let me back track a little on what's been going on with the Dominguez's.

In September and some of October I was babysitting a 14month old little boy and p/u his siblings from school everyday. So that explains me not having much time to blog during that time. Cy really enjoyed having a baby in the house. He was so sad when I told him that the baby wouldn't come back.

Also during that time my allergies went berzerk and I got a really bad facial rash. The rash started on my neck and spreaded to my face. It was really itchy and when I was in the sun or just got hot it would itch really bad. I went to the doctor, who didn't know what is was and I went to the dermatologist who again didn't know what caused it. I had blood work done to make sure it wasn't lupus. I did a biopsy and it just stated that it was a allergic reaction of something I came into contact with. So I really have no idea what caused the rash but I am pretty sure it was just one of my allergy attacks that I get that just went crazy. Soooo I was pretty depressed that month and didn't go anywhere because I was just so embarrased about my face. The bumps went away but they did scar so I am still upset about it but I can't stay hidden forever when you have kids.

October 25th was our Ward's Halloween Activity. The kids had a great time there. The boys dressed up as Star War characters. Carlos was a Jedi Knight and Cy was yoda. They played games and ran around with their friends. They had a tent set up (A Haunted House) but Cy wasn't up to going in. Maybe next time.

The next day was the CSPM and it was Cy's first time going up. I was a little hesitant about it. I was scared that he would yell and scream and I would have to go grab him and take him out of the building. But it didn't end up that way at all. Cy went up and sat for the most part in his assigned seat with an occasional waving of the hand and saying hi to me and carlos and blowing us kisses a dozen times. :) but besides that he was great up there. I was really proud of him. He finally has the whole primary thing down. I think it has to do with that I am no longer there. (I'm not sure if I have mentioned it before but I no longer work in primary I am a teacher with Carlos in Nursery. I miss primary! Carlos is great with the kids!) I walk him to his class and no fits or fights about it anymore. He even made friends with some of the other kids.

October 27th was my birthday. It was a good day. Cy let me watch t.v all day which is a big deal for him because that meant he missed all HIS shows even though our boys both have tv's in their rooms. Cy even vaccumed for me. The guys took me out to dinner and I got to pick out my gift. I choose the Guitar Hero. In our house we like to play games together as a family and so many people have said how fun Guitar Hero is so I caved in and jumped on the band wagon. It is really fun you can battle each other, or do a single or band career. We have only had it for a week and I'm still on easy Carlos is on medium already. I guess I'm not that coordinated. We also had a cookie cake that night.

On Friday we decided to crash Tolleson's Halloween Activity. I thought it would be funner for the boys than to walk around our neighborhood passing all the dark empty forclosed homes. We got to see a lot of our good friends that we miss. Sorry for not being able to chat longer Cy kept wanting to redo all the games. The boys got to trunk or treat twice this year. Carlos used his Jedi Force and got extra candy out of Randy. He really enjoyed seeing his friends again. Cy tried to be brave and go in the little trailer (haunted house) but ran off crying again.

That pretty much sums it up. I will hopefully stay on track...

Support Our Cardinals!

Best Record In 17 years.

On Sunday our Cardinals are playing the Washington RedSkins. So far this year they are 2-0. Undefeated for the season so far.

I am not a sports fan but since I am the only female in this house they out rule me on this subject. I do play Madden 09 with Carlos even though I never know what I am doing. I don't think I will ever understand football but hey it keeps him happy :) I thought I would dedicate this post to my boys for always showing me how much they love and appreciate me.

I will always be their biggest fan!

9/11 Tribute

The 2,993 confirmed victims of September 11th 2001 included innocent victims from 87 countries. The youngest victim was 2 year old Christie Hanson - The oldest victim was 85 year old Robert Grant Norton. 3,251 children lost a Parent on that day... The New York City Fire Department lost 343 firefighters, almost half the number of on-duty deaths in the department's 100-year history. 1,337 vehicles were crushed when the towers collapsed, including 91 FDNY vehicles - a little more than half of all the fire vehicles in Louisville. The fires at Ground Zero burned for 99 days, until Dec. 19.1.5 million working hours during 261 days were spent removing the debris at the WTC site.

The Innocent Voices of 9-11...

Flight 93 flight attendant Ceecee Lyles, 33 years old, in an answering-machine message to her husband: "Please tell my children that I love them very much. I'm sorry, baby. I wish I could see your face again."
Capt. Walter Hynes of the New York Fire Department's Ladder 13 dialed home that morning as his rig left the firehouse at 85th Street and Lexington Avenue. He was on his way downtown, he said in his message, "I don't know if we'll make it out. I want to tell you that I love you and I love the kids."
When Elizabeth Rivas husband left for the World Trade Center that morning, she went to a Laundromat, where she heard the news. She couldn't reach him by cell and rushed home. He'd called at 9:02 and reached her daughter. The child reported, "He say, mommy, he say he love you no matter what happens, he loves you." He never called again. Mrs. Rivas later said, "He tried to call me. He called me."
Peter Hanson, a passenger on United Airlines Flight 175 called his father. "I think they intend to go to Chicago or someplace and fly into a building," he said. "Don't worry, Dad - if it happens, it will be very fast."
On the same flight, Brian Sweeney called his wife, got the answering machine, and told her they'd been hijacked. "Hopefully I'll talk to you again, but if not, have a good life. I know I'll see you again some day."
There was Tom Burnett's famous call from United Flight 93. "We're all going to die, but three of us are going to do something," he told his wife, Deena. "I love you, honey."
Todd Beamer of United 93 wound up praying on the phone with a woman he'd never met before, a Verizon Airfone supervisor named Lisa Jefferson. She said later that his tone was calm. It seemed as if they were "old friends," she later wrote. They said the Lord's Prayer together. Then he said "Let's roll."
38 year old Lauren Grandcolas (3 months pregnant, with her first child) called her husband of 10 years from United 93 and left this message. "Jack, pick up, Sweetie," Lauren said on the voicemail. "I'm OK. I just wanted to tell you I love you. There's a little problem on the plane. I'm totally fine for now. I … I'll … I love you more than anything. Just know that. Please tell my family I love them too."
Melissa Harrington Hughes, a 31-year-old San Franciscan who was attending a conference on the 101st floor of the World Trade Centre when the first plane hit, reverberated around the world. Trapped on a higher floor, called her father to say she loved him. Minutes later she left a message on the answering machine as her new husband slept in their San Francisco home. The message she left was heard by millions: "Sean, it's me. I just wanted to let you know I love you and I am stuck in this building in New York. A plane hit, or a bomb went off - we don't know. But there's a lot of smoke and I just wanted you to know I love you."

Do you Remember where you were on 9-11-01?

I was asleep when Carlos called me and told me. I didn't believe him. I turned on the T.V and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Lil Carlos was 4 alsmost 5 and he sat with me watching t.v. I explained to him about the bad people on the planes and all the mom's and dad's in the building and on the plane. It was so sad we both sat there and cried. Carlos was working at Auto Zone and I was attending Education of America for Computer Networking. School closed that day so that everyone could be with their family. I remember how scared everyone felt waiting to see if there were going to be any more attacks. I remember after, strangers coming together and helping one an other... and how patriotic everyone felt.

I am thankful to live in America and enjoy all the freedoms that we have. I am thankful for the soldiers. I am thankful to all the FireFighters, Police, Doctors and the many others who helped out on that terrible day.

Carlos’ Perfect Day…

When I pick Carlos up from school I always ask "How was your day?" So Friday when I asked, he said: "It was perfect!" (I've never heard that one before) I said, Wow what made it so perfect? And he said that he got chosen to be Junior Librarian!

There was a thick stack of papers from all the kids who entered and Carlos and a few other kids were chosen. Next week, last years junior librarians will be training the new kids. Some of Carlos' duties are: Put books away, sharpen pencils, refill paper in printers, help set up for the book fair, help run the schools store and anything else the Librarian asks of them. This takes place sometimes before/after school, during recess or during class. I'm pretty excited for him. He's a good kid already but I think he will really understand what its like to have responsibilities away from home.

5th Grade!

First Week Of School

This was a crazy week Carlos started school on Monday. August 4th. The parking lot and the drop off area at school have been crazy! Carlos started the 5th grade. He's pretty excited about this year. He thinks it's going to be a good year! He likes how they switch classes for every subject. I've met all his teachers and they all seem pretty nice. I know who his favorite teacher will be, Mr. White, who is his math teacher. Carlos's best and favorite subject is math. He is also trying to become a Junior Librarian

Cy is still home with me for another year. I don't know who is happier, me or him. I tried to see if he can get tested to enter head start but he does not qualify. So, he is home with me for one more year. I get one year to ease myself into knowing that both boys are growing up. I get sad when I think about them getting big, no longer babies. Me and Carlos are not planning on having any more children so this is it Cy is the last baby and it's hard for me to let go. I know I know They will always be my babies but I think once they are in school that's it, they are out in the world and you no longer can protect them the way you do when they are at home with you

Boys Will Be Boys

A couple of weeks ago the guys (My nephew Justin, Lil Carlos, Cy and Carlos) had an all out War! I don't know what it is about boys and nerf guns J Lil Carlos and Justin planned all day thier war strategy waiting for Carlos to come home from work. Carlos being the Great Dad that he is, coming home from a tiring and stressful day went into war with the boys. Cy switched sides very often first with his dad and then on the boys team. Being the only girl in the house, I am Always Switzerland. I sometimes am the referee. The boys really got into it; putting camouflage on their faces. They also play in the dark with one light on in the corner so that they aren't spotted quickly. Here are a few pics…
